Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
